Penny loafers originated in the 90s because British fisherman were looking for something comfortable to wear when they went out to fish. The penny strap was then added by the Americans to make them aesthetically pleasing, and also worked to provide a lip-like space to store 2 pennies, enough to make an emergency call back in the days.
Mason and Smith is proud to present our very own collection of ready-to-wear penny loafers. The Haru loafers spot a slightly shorter toe with the shape sitting in between a chisel and a rounded shape. The pinched moccasin adds a layer of texture across the apron and sits low on the vamp. The full blake stitched construction provides a robust structure for the uppers, giving it the flexibility to bend and flex easily.
The natural colored French calf skin lining was specifically chosen to ensure comfort for the wearer in hot and humid weathers like Singapore. The heel sits at 24mm high and is pitched on both sides to portray a more dainty and petite silhouette.
We will recommend to size down on your English shoe size; for example if you're a UK size 7, we will suggest you to try on the size 6 because it grips the heel and foot better.
